Masking ~ Train Scene

I'm slightly addicted to masking!
It really opens up more creative options.
Today I'll show my combination of two Tim Holtz stamps.

Example #1:

First I stamped the street lamp.
Next I used my own lamp mask (stamped & handcut),
covered the lamp & stamped the train right over it.

But I have to say the glitter train steam
is what really makes this card cool.

Example #2:

Just like the card, I stamped - masked - stamped.
Notice the small gap around the street lamp
where the stamp didn't quite make contact?
I just fill that in with a black gel pen,
essentially sketching in to fill the void.

Using my Distress Inks, Copic markers & more masking:
The train scene came to life!

Here are my masks, I'll be saving them for more projects!

This was a challenging project, but fun indeed.
I put the train in my 4 year old son's room.
He just loves trains.

I use this chicken wire frame to clip up photos, art & mementos
in his room.  It's a fun way to keep changing the look.

Visit Funkie Junkie Boutique for many Tim Holtz

Unity Color Challenge/ FWF

I'd be a fool NOT to play along with Unity's color challenge.
I love it, I love it, I love it.

I liked it SO much that there are TWO cards to share with you today.
They're blank cards for no certain occasion.
Both use Material Girl~Get Scrappy With It stamps.

Thanks for looking!

Holtz Tag & Planners

The February tag from Tim Holtz was very inspiring.

I was excited to see he used a stamp that I have!
Although I lack the embossing folder.

Here is my version, slightly different.

The crown is from Tim's Fairytale Frenzy set.

I don't have Tim's distress markers yet,
so this is done with Copic.
A little stickles added some sparkle to the hearts.

Those cool weathered stars are from the Wild West set.
The "queen" is Unity brand,
and the frame is Pink Pailsey.

Now, here are the other two daily planners
that I mentioned in an earlier post.
The planners got a make-over!

The new blueprints from Tim are AWESOME!
I also used the crackle stamp of his from Joyful Song.
The Scripture verse is Unity's Faith set.

The last planner is covered in Tim's paper.
The verse is from Unity also.

USA Planner

I discovered some daily planners that I purchased & got misplaced.
I don't know how this happened, since I am SO organized.
cough cough

Better late than never!
At least they're 2 year planners,
they might still sell.
I sold a few last year.
Of course I keep one for myself,
for what good it does.

Here is one covered in a vintage map.
I will show you the other two in the near future.

I used my Tim Holtz mini blueprint 2 stamp
from the Funkie Junkie Boutique.

I colored each letter using my Copic Markers.
I did some faint ink distressing on the ivory paper
with Tim's Frayed Burlap.

MOJO 279 ~ card #2

I was having so much fun stamping,
here's a second entry for Mojo Monday's contest:

This lock is one of Tim Holtz's new blueprint stamps.
I got it from Funkie Junkie.
(She's having a sale this week)
The script is also T.H. brand.
The key is a Close To My Heart stamp.
It seems like an appropriate card
for my honey for Valentine's Day.
After all, he does hold the key to my heart!
Corny, I know.

Mojo 279 ~ card 1

It's always fun to join the MOJO MONDAY contest
I've been playing with some Tim Holtz & Unity stamps.
I figure this card could pass for graduation,
what do you think???

Spring Flowers Layout

It's Friday, that means Friends With Flair over at Unity.
I am dreaming of spring already!

Using Unity's Sweet Thoughts Of Spring,
I stamped directly on my photograph.

This can be tricky, because it's glossy & wants to smear.
It can be done, and I always use Stazon ink.
Give it ample time to dry.

There are lots of layers on my flowers.
The punched leaves & doily
went on best with spray adhesive.

The yellow flourishes are from my Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge.

For a little added sparkle, the brads were covered in glitter glue.
It worked well & I'll likely do it more often now!

I hope this inspires you to "think spring"!

Taped Candle

I "spruced up" a small scented candle
that was sitting on my craft desk.
It's a very simple make-over
when compared to the other projects.

I used Tim Holtz tissue tape (commute).
It took three strips to go around.
I used blue paint tape to protect the
exposed top & bottom glass portion.
Next, I used Tim Holtz Distress Ink
(broken china) to tint the tape edges.
I stamped the star from
Americana Blueprint (Tim Holtz)
several times all the way around,
right on the tape!
I purchase the ink & stamps from

I colored in parts of the stars
using a Close To My Heart
 blending pen.  You can touch
the marker tip to an ink pad &
color things in for a perfect match!
It just added a little subtle color.

Birdhouse Make-over

My mom had given me a box of items to search through
and donate to the thrift store when I was done.
I saw potential a little wooden birdhouse.
The tiny craft birdhouse had been painted by my niece
in pastels about as good as a 5 year old could do.
I gave it two coats of fresh white paint.

Then the fun began!
I chose to cover it in American Crafts XOXO papers.

Unity Embrace You bird stamp.

Unity Mr Boy stamp " i Love you!)
