Easter Layout 1

Happy Easter!
I'll be sharing several Easter layouts this week.

Last year we went to Iowa for the holiday.
On my mom's farm, the kids had a blast outside
with the unseasonably warm weather.
This year it's snowing! Eww.

The paper here is old Basic Grey.
The chipboard words are We R Memory Keepers.
The pearls are Maya Road.
The butterfly punch is from Martha Stewart.

Unity Card Sketch

I'm playing along with Unity's challenge.
They offer several options.
I chose the card sketch and color combo!

I used various paper scraps from my overflowing box.
The butterfly is from a Unity grab bag.
I stamped it, then colored in the plaid with Copic.

Thanks again Unity, for inspiring me to stamp!

He is Risen!

It's almost Easter & my cards are sent.
I love this holiday with it's pastel tones
and gentle animals (bunnies, chicks & lamb).

I took a lot  of time stamping, coloring & cutting out the
sweet little lambs for these.

The stamp is Close To My Heart called He Is Risen.
I did a little shading on with my W1 grey Copic.
The paper is also CTMH, called Miracle.
The frame shapes were cut on my Cricut using
 the Art Philosophy cartridge.

I this final card, you can see the crisp image stamped on white.
The border punch is Martha Stewart.
On the first card, the punch was EK Success.

Have a great holiday!

Not a Basket

Today I'm sharing my entry for Funkie & Frilly.
To follow the rules, I opted out of using an Easter basket.
Instead, it could be a jar, bag, or anything else.
I chose a small rustic box.
It's one of a few I made from reclaimed wood.

It looks so cozy wrapped in white burlap.
The jersey flowers are from Prima.

I used a Martha Stewart leaf punch.

I made my tag with Tim Holtz Mini Blueprints 2

The bunny is pop dotted up and has a genuine ribbon.
Using some distressing inks, I played around with
color blending (bundled sage & milled lavender).

I ran vintage hymn music through my paper shredder
and then through my crinkler!
It makes for some mighty cute basket "grass".

Those glitter eggs were from the dollar store!
I pulled the pink out of the 6 pack for this little box.

I hope you have a meaningful & safe holiday.

FRESH

THIS WINTER IS DRAGGING ON FOREVER.
WE'VE HAD SNOW, WIND, ICE.
TODAY I SLIPPED AND FELL AGAIN.
LAST TIME IT WAS ON MY BUTT,
THIS TIME ON BOTH KNEES.
OUCH

HERE ARE SOME CRAZY PICTURES
OF WHAT THE WIND CAN DO
TO OUR MINNESOTA SNOW!

ENOUGH WINTER TALK!

I

WANT

SUMMER!

HERE ARE SOME FUN COLORFUL PICTURES OF
MY OLDEST BOY WHEN WE WENT
STRAWBERRY PICKING LAST SUMMER.

I USED UNITY'S SWEETEST DAY STRAWBERRY STAMP.

THE TITLE WAS CUT ON MY CRICUT USING
THE OLD WEST CARTRIDGE.
EACH LETTER WAS CUT 1/2 INCH LARGER
FOR A FUN EXPANDING WORD!
SOMETIMES MY MOST BASIC LAYOUTS
TURN OUT TO BE MY FAVORITES!

William Morris Style

I wanted to try the super hard challenge over at Frilly and Funkie.  They wanted us use William Morris Style.  This means muted colors, flowers or leaves & an animal.  The examples for us looked like this:

Once I got rolling on this theme, I couldn't resist making a few projects!

#1

This card uses some cool blueprint leaves from Tim Holtz.  I bought them from the Funkie Junkie Boutique.  Using distress ink pads, I blended some fun colors together & stamped over it.  Then I cut the leaves out.

I found the orange tapestry paper in my scraps & grabbed this die cut deer from a pile of premade animals.  I had borrowed my sister's Cricut cartridge & cut out deer, moose & fox.  They're so cool with the layered swirls!

#2

This card also involved Tim Holtz leaf stamps.  I gave them a little color with my Copic markers.  The pretty bird stamp is an old Prima set.  I masked the bird & stamped those pretty blossoms by him.  Here again, I used some scrap paper & left over sticker.  Walnut distress ink made my circle edges tinted.

#3

Lastly, is a sympathy card.  The muted tones seemed appropriate.  I used a Unity stamp for the woods.  The bird embellishment is from Webster's Pages.  The embossed paper scrap were a nice texture to add.

Curious Bunny Sign

If you follow the Tim Holtz blog,
you've heard about his tattered floral contest.

He wants us all to get crafty with his
die cuts & make some fun flowery creations!
So even if you don't participate,
you should view all the amazing entries.
It is very inspiring!

I made this painted sign with a curious bunny,
since it's nearly Easter (and spring)!

Using my Cricut, I cut vinyl stencils
& dabbed in the negative space with paint.
The cartridges were CTMH Art Philosophy
(butterfly & frame)
and Child's Year (bunny).

Making the blue jean flowers was so fun!
I layered the tattered flowers over some other pink
scrapbooking flowers for more color.

I painted Tim's Festive Foliage metal flowers white.
Then I found some furniture nails
with bigger heads and painted them also.
They worked good to secure them on
by nailing them to my wood.

A big chunky ribbon bow tied it all together.

Hoot Card

It's Friday. That means Friends With Flair
over at Unity Stamp Company!

on this fun colorful birthday card!

It took some time to piece together the owl.
But that ensures crisp colors,
when markers could end up streaky.
I think the glittery hat is very festive!

The white dot border was stamped &
then randomly colored with Copic markers.
I've done this with other border stamps as well
and it always turns out cool.

Bunny Tag

Hi there everyone.
Today I'm sharing with you a bunny tag
made with Tim Holtz products!

His little blueprint bunny stamp,
music pattern stamp, script stamp & distressing inks
made this Easter tag so festive.

It looks pretty cute clipped on my old bike tire.
I love to decorate with tags!
There is a vintage Easter postcard next to it.

Leave me comments if YOU use tags for things
other than labeling gifts!
I'd love to hear some of your ideas.

Wood Stamp

I recently got a massive Tim Holtz background wood grain stamp.
It has quickly become my favorite.

It looks so pretty stamped on this Prima pastel blended color paper.
The encouraging verse is from Unity's Faith set.

This card uses rose distress ink for a subtle pink pattern.
The curious bunny was cut on my Cricut using the Child's Year cartridge.
I use the Martha Stewart butterfly punch often.

This wood was stamped in Milled Lavender.
I finally inked this cute Unity bunny.
The flower was a little tricky, with a fine stem.
I drew the stem and cut the flower out separate.
Copic markers gave his ears and flower just a hint of color.

If you don't have a wood grain stamp, I'd highly recommend it!
Other options include, wood patterned paper or an embossing folder.

MOJO 283

It's challenge time over at MOJO MONDAY.
The current layout is #283.

I used my Unity brand Bible verse stamp.
It's from the set called Faith.

The brown, pink & blue was a fun color scheme.
This was a helpful sketch, since lately I've been
having some creative road blocks!

Egg Cards

Hi folks.
Sharing a Tim Holtz brand creation here today.
It features one of his blueprint stamps.

The egg seems to glow!
I colored it with a Copic
and used a mask to distressed around it.
THEN I made a mask that allowed me to ONLY
rub the egg area with embossing ink.
Using blue pearl clear embossing powder,
I highlighted the egg!

A few shiny flowers blended in well with the iridescent egg.
So, somehow super shine & dingy can coexist!

Chandelier Card

I love this chandelier stamp,
but haven't played with it much.
So I tried to pull off a posh lady card.

You can see a hint of Holtz tissue tape in the background.
The paper is Webster's Pages.
The sentiment is Unity.

True Happiness

I made this layout of my mom & step dad.
I liked it, a change from my usual boy pages!
Mom can add it to the wedding album I made her,
since she had a few empty pages left in that.

The paper is Mariposa by DCWV.
That lovely frame made for a VERY easy layout.
It's glittery too.

The stamps are Unity You+Me=Bliss (true happiness)
 and Beauty (roses).

I really cut loose & opened my package of Prima
flowers that always seem too special to use!
(anyone else ever have that problem?)

The pretty ribbon is seam binding:
the best ribbon on earth.

The edge punch is EK Success.
The leaf punch is Marth Stewart.
