Thrifty Tips

When you find a good deal, it's silly not to share!  I scored a 20 pack of mini paper doilies at Target in their dollar section. That sure beats the $3.99 I paid for my last package!  This is a seasonal section, so if you love using doilies on cards or layouts...get on over to Target ASAP!

Tip #2 is for Clip It Up owners or organization/crafter addicts.  Go directly through Simply Renee to get 40 pack clip it up CLIPS for $6.10 a pack.  If you shop around, this is a killer deal!  On Ebay & elsewhere they're $7.50-13.00!  The best part is...they didn't charge me shipping!  What?

I love these things for hooking this and that anywhere!  They work great on chicken wire clipboards, since I find that the mini clothes pins fall apart on me.

Tag Rampage

I'm on a tag rampage.
Once you start them, it's hard to stop.
Maybe it's because they're fast,
or because they're so cute.

I turned this one into a graduation card.
I love that sparrow from the Unity Embrace You set.

I use tags to embellish my chicken wire clipboard frames.
They are more likely to sell,
with an adorable little tag tied on!

That sketched butterfly stamp is Tim Holtz.

This is also a Unity stamp.
I LOVE the phrase.

Can you see I've been using my Tim Holtz
distress inks and some fun techniques?

Agate Stampede Layout

This unique event in Moose Lake Minnesota
involves crowds of people looking through rocks
for the beautiful agate rocks.

It's a Minnesota thing!

They actually dump several truck loads of rocks on main street.
They have added agates & some coins to the load.
When the gun shot fires, folks scramble past the caution tape
& try to find the best big agates.
I think we found 7.  I do better than that looking on my driveway!
The rock show with vendors is a lot of fun, however.
We saw $900 agates for sale!

All the supplies for this page are Close To My Heart.
I loved using up some Stickease letter stickers for the quick title.
The boot stamps seemed appropriate.

2Peas #10 Challenge

Oh man, I made it to challenge #10 of the Two Peas In A Bucket CHA winter '13 series.  Good thing, because I blasted through most of my adhesive!  It did feel good to get sort of caught up on my stack of photos.

I was encouraged to use TEN brands of products for this project.  I included some Webster's Pages (paper), Jenni Bowlin (paper scrap), Tim Holtz (stamps), EK Success (corner punch), Core'dinations (paper strip), DCWV (paper strip), Close To My Heart (cardstock), Cricut (tag), Top Boss (emboss pad), stampedous (embossing powder).

My son thought this snow train was so fun to play on last winter!  He keeps asking for one this year, but we need more snow!  He loves trains.

2Peas #9 Challenge

Well, I've made it to Two Peas in A Bucket's #9 Challenge.  It requires grabbing 9 things already on your work space. This was easy because I rarely clean in between layouts & have a nice little container full of "rejects".  Sometimes I stamp things or cut them out & never use it.

Can you believe those old hymn page flowers were rejects?  I made them, but apparently they didn't jive with my other project.  They might be acid free, but I decided to take the risk & place them on my layout.  They're simply folded scallp punches.

The four man items (cards, checkers, dapper Dan, top hat guy) were cut out for card use,  but again tossed in my pile of junk.  They were handy on this mustache layout, so I was glad when I dug them out!

The gear was used, left over from making Tim Holtz tags.

The giant sewed circle is also an item that I didn't want to toss away. So that equals NINE items.

Supplies:
The background paper is Echo Park.
The suit men are on Graphic 45 paper.
The Giggles stamp is Unity.

2Peas #8 Challenge

I have an entry to share
for Two Peas In A Bucket's

Use 8 different materials!

1. stickers (title)
2. die cuts (letters)
3. ribbon
4. tag
5. brad
6. paper clip
7. stamp
8. pin

The background is Tim Holtz paper,
and so is the tag that I stamped on.
The stamp is Unity.
I thought the giant snowflake with
glitter edge was a fun contrast to the
drab background.

This huge chair is at the tree farm
where we cut our Christmas tree!
It's sure one of a kind!

2Peas CHA #7 Challenge

The #7 challenge at Two Peas In A Bucket
is to use seven patterned papers.

You can see the obvious six squares,
but the retro words along the side
are a strip of pattern printed paper
from We R Memory Keepers Teen Angst.

I used foam Thickers
& some flat (CM) letter stickers.

My son got Ninja Turtles
 for Christmas this year.
I guess they're back,
a blast from the past.

2Peas #3 Challenge

The #3 challenge at Two Peas In a Bucket is to
play with three scrapbooking trends.
After scanning the gallery,
I chose layering, clustered elements
& leaving an empty background space.

I clustered the 2 buttons and a sticker.
I layered the notebook paper, background strip,
title tag, stickers & ric-rac.
I left the top left portion mostly blank,
which I see often & kind of like that style.

Most of this layout is Echo Park Boy's Life.

2Peas #6 Challenge

The Two Peas In A Bucket challenge #6
is to use 6 of one element on a page.

I chose to use six star brads on this
layout of my son's band concert.

I stamped the star on patterned paper,
cut part of it out &
layered that on the base image.

How sharp is that???!

Enough bragging.
The title is made of glitter stickers.
The background paper is Little Yellow Bicycle.
The rulers, splatter stamp & word paper is Tim Holtz.
The edge punch is EK Success.

2Peas #4 Challenge

your layout title must consist of four words

Sound familiar?
It will if you read your Bible!
It's a small portion of Matthew 7:7.

To make it only 4 word,
I had to make "you will" into "you'll".
That counts, right?

The kids featured in the photos are on
 an extensive treasure hunt.
They follow one clue to the next, and next.....
The game has become a July 4th tradition!

It was a colorful layout,
thanks to all the fun summer clothing &
bright green grass.

2Peas #2 Challenge

For the Two Peas In A Bucket challenge #2,
they require scrap lifting 2 ideas from other gallery members!

The two ideas I liked are:
1. Run a strip of tape on the edge of a layout ( VONEALL )
2. A row of banners under the photos ( ELISSAKM )

The tape is Smash brand.
I found a few scrap dotted papers for my banners!
The "boy" is Unity stamps Mr. Boy.
I used a Copic to color diagonal.
I did some stamping:
background distress,
 a hinge & false stitching.

Are those not the cutest little boys
having a water fight?
I love the bucket-heads!

2Peas #1 Challenge

The #1 layout challenge at Two peas In a Bucket is
use one color.  Neutrals are also allowed.
This urged me to grab a page of paper with photos
stacked on it.  This set has been sitting by my desk for months.
So, instead of tossing them aside YET again...
I whipped out a simple monochromatic page.
I mean SIM-PLE.

I put the "explore" on a pretty preprinted paper frame.
Isn't it pretty?  The stamp is CTMH.

The photos fit into such a nice square, that's how I kept 'em.
A few punched paper corners & that was it!

2Peas #5 Challenge

If you're a serious scrapbooker, you know that it's the CHA in California.  Two Peas In A Bucket is hosting a series of challenges to get us "all fired up".  Today I'm sharing my layout that features 5 photographs for their #5 challenge.  That's a whole lot of pics on a 12x12!  I usually have a good amount of events with multiple pics, so this was an easy one for me!  They did require some sizing down to fit though!

My oldest son was in basketball this year & couldn't come with us pick out our Christmas tree.  The little guy had a good time though.  We walked through the rows of trees, only to settle on the one we first saw back by the truck!  Happy Land Tree Farm also raises elk & that bull was so majestic, we had to take a photo & include him in our scrapbook album!

Mojo 275

Sometimes the Mojo Monday card sketches look strange to me.
But by golly, once you use the design, the cards always turn out great!

The sentiment stamp is Unity.
The flowers were cut from old K&Co paper.
I dug out several cardstock colors from my scrap box.

Authentique Layout

Today I'm sharing a scrapbook layout

It's a great sketch.
I chose to do a fall page.

It's pretty busy to look at,
but it's a relatively simple design.
I love these photos of my boys posing
with the giant pumpkins we grew this past fall.

I made the circle punch garland and taped it on.
It was easy, so don't hesitate to try this!

Products:
Authentique
Thankful Harvest paper
Thankful Pioneer paper
Blissful Prosperity title & paper

Chipboard Hearts

I picked up a pack of chipboard hearts
at a large craft store a while back.
Once I started decorating them,
it was so fun that I couldn't stop!
I love altered arts!

I used a technique from Tim Holt's 2nd book
 for the background here.
The embossed "LOVE" is Unity's Love Tiles
cut out for a different arrangement.

The next heart is less funky.

The burlap edge was a mess to glue on,
but makes this heart truly unique.

Here is one including some more Unity stamps.
The birds are from Love Life
and that heart is from With All My Heart.
The draped banner was hand drawn & cut.
I spelled out "love" with red wire.

I have two more chipboard hearts to share
with you in the future, so keep checking my blog
if it interests you!!!

Have a great weekend!

White Space

BoBunny has an easy card challenge this month.
Make a card with 70% white space.
That means a quick card,
 but requires high impact elements.

I thought a strong contrast of red glitter
 would give it some POP!

The sentiment is a Unity brand stamp
The papers are BoBunny's Enchanted:
Cutouts
Stripes
& Moments

TIM TAG~ JANUARY

THE CLOCKS AND TIME THEME
LOOKED LIKE FUN.
I ENDED MAKING TWO TAGS IN THIS THEME!

I DON'T HAVE THE VAGABOND,
BUT LOVE MY CRICUT.
SO THE PAPER GEARS WERE MADE
 WITH ACCENT ESSENTIALS.

THE STAMPS ARE CLOSE TO MY HEART.
(SORRY TIM, BUT I HAD TO IMPROVISE)
ALL THE PAPER IS TIM HOLTZ.
AREN'T THOSE CLOCKS AWESOME?
HIS LITTLE METAL GEARS ALSO ADD DETAIL.

NOW HERE IS MY SECOND TAG,
FEATURING A GRANDFATHER CLOCK.
IT'S FROM THE CRICUT CARTRIDGE
CALLED HERITAGE.

THANKS AGAIN TO TIM,
FOR THE INSPIRATION & FUN CHALLENGES.
IT REALLY GETS ME IN MY CRAFT CAVE
AND USING THOSE STOCKPILED SUPPLIES!
