BLOCKING

A GREAT VIDEO TUTORIAL SHOWS
HOW TO USE STRIPS OF PAPER
& MAKE PAPER BLOCKING SO EASY!

THIS WAS SO MUCH FUN,
ALTHOUGH IT DID TAKE ME TWO TRIES
FOR THE PERFECT CARD.

NOTICE HOW MY FIRST ATTEMPT
ISN'T CENTERED.
THERE IS A FULL BLOCK LINE ON THE RIGHT,
BUT A LITTLE SLIVER ON THE LEFT.

SO ON THE SECOND TRY,
I MEASURED & PUT MY FIRST STRIP
CENTERED DOWN THE MIDDLE.
I ALSO EYE-BALLED THE TOP & BOTTOM
SQUARES SO THEY WERE MORE
EVENLY CENTERED.

MUCH BETTER!

DOESN'T IT LOOK LIKE A VINTAGE QUILT?
VERY FUN TECHNIQUE.
I ENCOURAGE YOU TO TRY THIS.
BUT MAKE SURE YOU HAVE LOTS OF ADHESIVE ON HAND!

THIS PRETTY PAPER IS:
(LAST YEAR'S PAPER)

THE STAMP IS:

THE BELL IMAGE IS FROM AN ATC PAD

Tim Tag~ October

I couldn't resist the tag Tim Holtz made this month.
It forced me to get sticky with my modge podge & use my tissue paper!
With my new bottle of blending liquid & alcohol inks, these grungy tags came to be.

His example showed a "BOO" and a spider.

Tim Holtz

I didn't have a BOO, but found a glitter pumpkin & bat in my stash (Martha Stewart).
I ALSO didn't have his stamp.  So I substituted one of his tags with stickers.

I REALLY love how the tissue texture turned out.
I encourage YOU to give the "grunge" a try.
It's messy, but so worth it.

Unity Sketch Challenge

I dug out some fun paper scraps from a friend (Erin).
It worked so well for this simple card.

Here is the Unity Blog sketch:

This is not something I would have dreamt up!

But it turned out pretty cute.

Stamp A Border

This one was a bit tricky.
Unity's challenge was to make a border, with a NON border stamp!

So, I dug out possibly the CUTEST stamp I own.
It was stamped 3 times & parts cut out & pieced together.
I also added a small brad to the flag.

This stamp is called SENDING MY LOVE.
How sweet is it?

I stamped & cut all the letters out to form a border.

Texture

I forget about my Flower Soft most the time.
It's stashed away in a drawer.
The Unity Challenge of TEXTURE reminded me that I have it!

So, using the SO BLESSED & MR. BOY stamps, I made a house scene.

This is the first time this stamp has been utilized.
These challenges are forcing me to use my stuff!
Hooray to that!

It's pastor appreciation month, so this card will work perfectly!

Unity's Color Challenge

The rules are simple.
Use CREAM BROWN OLIVE & PUMPKIN on a card.
It is a pretty combination.
I ended up making two cards.

The butterfly is from Embrace You.
The sentiments are from With Sympathy.

I punched the pumpkins from some fall paper scraps.
How perfect is the sign?
It's from an Ippity set called FARM FRESH (image that!).

That orange paper looks like fabric.
The dot stripe is fabric tape.

Unity Challenge~ Emboss

I'm posting another Unity challenge here today.
It's to emboss a stamp

The color scheme is very basic & bold.
I love how crisp a card with white can be.
Clean & sharp.

I love combining different stamps & sentiments.
These two are called Thanks A Bunch & Smile Giggle Laugh.

Unity Coloring Challenge

I had such a blast creating a scene & coloring in the Unity dog stamp called Tail Wagger.  I kept all the colors basic & bright for a fun child's card. The clouds are from the Mr. Boy set.  The sentiment is from Ippity's Just Wanted To Say.  Martha Stewart makes the easy grass edge punch.  I used my ink pad to make shade the layers of grass darker!

MM261

I haven't done a Mojo sketch in a while.
This one looked pretty cute.
So below is my card using some old K&Co paper.

As you can see, I flipped it.
The bird faced left, so it seemed a good idea.
Liquid Pearls made a fun studded circle.

World Card Making Day

Just posting this fun owl card I whipped out on World Card Making Day.

The theme for the first Unity blog challenge is to make a SHAPED card.
So I made one using CTMH's Art Philosphy Cricut cartridge.

UNITYWCMD2012A

The swirling background stamp is Embrace You.
That sweet little owl is A Hoot Of A Day.
He was stamped on 4 different papers & cut then pieced together.

UNITY FRIDAY

So I'm hitting 2 birds with one stone today &
submitting my Unity monthly blog challenge as well.
The requirement is for the creation to use
 pennants or banners

The Itty Bitty used here is called Life Documented
I hand cut the ornaments from Authentique
(Glistening Festive) paper & raised them up.
 The pretty music note paper
is (Yuletide Festive) Authentique.

CARD SKETCH

IT'S A TWO PEAS CHALLENGE AGAIN.... I JUST LOVE THAT WEBSITE.
MY CARD MAKING IS WAY FASTER WITH A SKETCH IN FRONT OF ME!

THIS IS SOME OLD K&CO PAPER & TAGS.
IT LOOKS SORT OF FOLK STYLE.

I'VE GIVEN MYSELF THE GOAL OF MAKING 2 CHRISTMAS CARDS
EACH WEEK, SO I CAN HAVE PLENTY TO SELL (&USE)!

FF Video Challenge

I played along with Two Peas In A Bucket for the Finally Friday video challenge.
It's always good to have a specific technique in mind when starting a card.
They suggest making a "peek hole".

I used the Creative Memories to slice a hole in the middle.
This Echo Park Paper is from last year.
In the window I slipped in a ATC card from my generous stash.
A pretty bow & some Liquid Pearls finished it off!

Now, a bonus card that took only about 5 minutes to make:

For this one I simply slapped on a cute sticker!
Sorry the photo is crooked.  I still wanted to share it with you.

Am I crazy or has anyone else started Christmas cards???
