BLOCKING

A GREAT VIDEO TUTORIAL SHOWS
HOW TO USE STRIPS OF PAPER
& MAKE PAPER BLOCKING SO EASY!

THIS WAS SO MUCH FUN,
ALTHOUGH IT DID TAKE ME TWO TRIES
FOR THE PERFECT CARD.

NOTICE HOW MY FIRST ATTEMPT
ISN'T CENTERED.
THERE IS A FULL BLOCK LINE ON THE RIGHT,
BUT A LITTLE SLIVER ON THE LEFT.

SO ON THE SECOND TRY,
I MEASURED & PUT MY FIRST STRIP
CENTERED DOWN THE MIDDLE.
I ALSO EYE-BALLED THE TOP & BOTTOM
SQUARES SO THEY WERE MORE
EVENLY CENTERED.

MUCH BETTER!

DOESN'T IT LOOK LIKE A VINTAGE QUILT?
VERY FUN TECHNIQUE.
I ENCOURAGE YOU TO TRY THIS.
BUT MAKE SURE YOU HAVE LOTS OF ADHESIVE ON HAND!

THIS PRETTY PAPER IS:
(LAST YEAR'S PAPER)

THE STAMP IS:

THE BELL IMAGE IS FROM AN ATC PAD

  2. I just now had time to watch the video and I am in shock at how easy and wonderful this technique is! I am a huge fan of mixed strips of patterns and I can't wait to try this!! I use cards that are 5.5" tall by 4" wide (from Hobby Lobby) so I will be using 8 strips of 1/2" width and if you do that, you should be able to not worry about starting in the center. Did you make a standard A2 (4.5 wide)? I guess for this technique, if I had A2 envelopes, I'd still make my card 4" or even a 5" square card would be great with 10 strips of half inch. I'm so excited about this!! Thanks for turning me on to it. I saw the card on 2Peas but I didn't watch the video until I saw your blog post!
