Create a Scene

I love woodland theme cards,
so the challenge at Country View
was a breeze!

~Create A Scene~

Using some texture paste and
a stencil, I created the forest background.

I cut the coyote on my Cricut
and made the grass with an edge punch.

I made a few more critter cards.

I used the Unity brand stamp
called So This is Love for the woods.

Unity December Challenge

I love the wide open challenge
this month.

~any holiday~

My mind is jumping ahead to
Valentines Day already.

Since my vintage photograph
pile is getting a bit overwhelming,
I chose to work with a cute
old snapshot.

The heart stamp that runs across the
photograph is from the March 2011
Kit of the Month by Unity.
The sentiment was in a grab bag.

How cute is this couple?
It's fun to image if they stayed
together & wed.  The picture is
from a Duluth Minnesota
high school back in the 1930s.

I use Stazon ink over the pics
and color with my Copic markers.
These require a good long dry time,
so they don't smear.
The photo stamping is tricky,
and a steady hand is required.

I have more cards with old
photos to share with you.
If you love to include vintage items
in your crafts, please keep checking
my blog for inspiration!

December Holtz Tag

It's crazy to think the year is winding down.
I'd like to show you my last
Tim Holtz Tag challenge entry for 2015.

Here is his wonderful tag:
12 tags of 2015 - December | www.timholtz.com

Here is my twist on the project:
I liked his fabric background,
but took the easy route.
Mine is printed paper.

I used a punch and made lots of
leaves for the wreath.

The words are Tim's chitchat stickers.
I also distress inked the paper edges with
my dark brown called Walnut.
The pretty red tinsel ribbon is also
Tim Holtz brand.

I added a hemp bow & some heart brads.
The Stickles glitter glue gave the wreath
some shimmer, similar to Tim's.

Vintage Photos ~ WINTER

I threw down some good money
for two more photo albums full
of vintage snapshots!

Making unique cards with these
candid pics is so much fun.
I'm totally addicted to this
new style of card making.

Just look..

How cute are these girls?

The temps here in Minnesota are
finally plunging down to what
we consider "normal" this time
of year. It's appropriate to send out
this card offering WARM WISHES!

Fox

The theme over at the Curtain Call Blog
challenge is Fox!

They are such cute critters,
I just HAD to join in.
I can think of a million card ideas,
from the 3 fox stamps I have.
Here is the one I did manage to complete...

The Unity Brand stamp is called
I chose to make this a blank card,
since it didn't have snow.
That made me wonder if it was
very Christmas at all!
The background is wood grain paper.
The gingham ribbon is very country
style for a good "woodsie" looking card.

I used some masking, distress ink & Copic markers
to color the image. It was tricky.

And...in case you forgot that fox song,
please watch the video!
It will stick in your head ALL DAY.
It makes me laugh & never gets old.

Acorn Tag

The background on Tim Holtz's
November Tag has the coolest
resist effect using paint!

TAG-MAIN

If you follow his tutorial,
you can't fail.

Here is my twist on the challenge...

I chose an acorn Mini Blueprint stamped
image instead of the pumpkin.
The acorn was stamped on patterned paper
and cut out.  The "top" was stamped
on kraft paper to add a darker layer.

I will be trying this background again,
the texture is something you must see
first hand, it's amazing!

This tag might be my favorite creation EVER,
even though it's relatively flat.
All the stamping I did gave it a
crazy cluster appeal.
The arrows really make it cute.
Don't you think?

Stripes- Photo Card

Lately I've been trying to make
creative use of vintage black & white
photographs I purchased at an antique store.

Sometimes it's a trick finding the
right sentiment to match a photo.

I thought this card turned out cute
with this spiffy old lady all dressed up
in a striped dress and mink shawl.
This photo is lovely.

The paper is Authentique brand.
I layered a bunch of flowers & added
a Prima butterfly & gems.

Let There be Light

It's time for me to share
 yet another challenge entry.
The theme is Let There be Light

I used a light bulb from
the Industrial Blueprints

I also made embossed twinkles
from the Retro Christmas stamp/die cut set.

This was a fun challenge that helped me
get creative with a rarely used stamp!
I might save this card for graduations.

MOJO 422

I'm used a winter theme on my MOJO 422
card challenge creation.

 Copic markers worked for
coloring in this Great Impression
 brand bird scene.

I like to color in a few at a time,
and make several similar cards.

I just love this chickadee
and soon it will be Christmas!

One Layer

Making a card with only one layer is a challenge!
I'm playing along over at Just Us Girls.

As usual, I got addicted to this style &
made several cards using masks and
distress ink.

The stamps are Studio 490,
Unity & CTMH.

Best Combo EVER.

I am on cloud 9 with the color combo
from Unity Stamp Company's
current challenge!

It's very rich & just
screams "FALL".

I used a few different sets on this card.
The background is Crunch Time.
That darling owl is A Hoot of a Day.

This second card uses the

That butterfly & sentiment
 from the 1/14 KOM.

H.B. Bee

I'm trying a new blog challenge
by a group called "Just Us Girls".

I like the honeycomb theme
and felt inspired to break out
the paper punch!

I used a Unity brand stamp,
some old K & Co paper scraps,
and a bee cut from an
adhesive border sticker!

Honeycombs make quick,
easy, cute cards.  I so glad the
blog challenge reminded me to
dig out my punch tool.

Creepy Bug

I'm not a huge fan of Halloween.
Still, it's fun to use the color scheme
and some unusual focal points.

I used a stamp from the Funkie Junkie Boutiqe
called Art for You.  The sentiment was from
Tim Holtz's Simple Saying set.

You can see more spooky inspiration
over at the Frilly & Funkie blog.
The current challenge theme is
"something wicked".

Bird Cage

I took inspiration from
the Tim Holtz blog this month.

He has a spooky tag
and uses some die cuts.

TAG-PINTEREST

I decided to use my bird cage dies.

This die set makes great blank
greeting cards.

This card uses a leaf stencil.

I used a burlap stencil
on this and some
leaf die punches.

It's hard to tell,
but I used 3D pop dots under
the bird to make the cage
appear rounded.
Tim achieved this effect
on his tag.

Holiday Set

I'm getting a jump on my Christmas cards!
The color challenge over at Unity Stamp Company's
blog had a great combo to inspire all stampers.

I dug out my stamp set called

To make these cute holiday stocking cards,
I stamped on SIX different color papers!
Then I fussy cut them out & glued them on.

I tried some Stickles glitter on one card.
It makes the stockings seem more magical!

Glitter Leaves

It's fall here in Minnesota.
The leaves are turning red & yellow.
It is quite a sight!

Here is an easy project I made with some
frames from a garage sale.

Before:

After:

I painted them with 2 coats of ivory &
sanded the edges and beaded areas slightly.
The inside was filled with vintage book pages.
Those glitter paper leaves were cut using the
Tim Holtz die cuts & my Sizzix.

Now I have some seasonal wall art!
